The Field Operator is a multi-skilled position that is responsible for supporting all compressor and field pipeline operating functions including operations, maintenance and recordkeeping of compressor stations involving electrical and mechanical work. 


  • Responsible for proper operation and maintenance of pipeline facilities in accordance with Company procedures/policies and DOT regulations
  • Assist with daily pipeline operational and maintenance activities such as locate pipelines, run pipeline pigs, change charts, assist in blow downs and tie-ins, compression, dehydration, lock outs, tag outs, stop start and load compressor teaming systems, change valves and CO2 treating in accordance with DOT regulations
  • Responsible for starting/stopping compressors, equipment checks, preventive maintenance on engines, and certain repairs to engines and engine compressors
  • Performs minor electrical/instrumentation maintenance and repair
  • Maintains safe operation of equipment and safety of crew as a top priority. 
  • Knowledge of and adherence to pertinent environmental policies.
  • Maintain accurate measurement of gas into and out of an assigned area of the pipeline district
  • Complete applicable reporting and documentation of key operating parameters.
  • Maintain typical pipeline equipment, basic measurement equipment, valves, etc.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and reporting for inspection and maintenance, safety, regulatory, etc.
  • Assist in cost control of pipeline operations and maintenance in assigned area
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor


  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be willing to work overtime and handle call-outs. 
  • Currently live, or be willing to relocate, to within 35 miles of the reporting location.
  • Must have a reliable means of contact for call-out purposes.
  • Three (3) years previous experience with compressor station operation and maintenance
  • Applicable oilfield mechanical or electrical experience preferred.
  • Must have mechanical and / or electrical aptitude.
  • Must have basic computer skills to use Company e-mail, company issued software and hardware, and produce electronic reports
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and is subject to random DOT drug testing
  • Capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 100lbs.
  • Capable of vigorous outdoor activities and have manual dexterity with physical ability to work extended hours, climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, working with arms extended above the head, twisting upper body, standing for long periods, walking on catwalks, working in confined spaces, exposure to extreme weather conditions, driving a vehicle, operation of forklifts and light industrial equipment
  • Work environment may include moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles and moderate to loud noise, requiring consistent use of appropriate PPE. 
  • Able to work in environment where noise level is moderate to loud.
  • Able and willing to be on call nights, weekends and holidays.
